Preparing for SATs and Exam Season

SATs and exam season is approaching, which means students and parents may begin to feel the stress, heightened emotions and try to cram in last minute revision sessions. It’s important, as parents, to help your child find a balance between revision, play and rest, while encouraging them to do their best in their assessments.

When it comes to homework and revision, this period in time is more important than ever to support their learning outside of school to keep their minds at work and in good practice. Getting your child to pull out their homework on an evening or over the weekend might seem difficult, but AE’s range of books are designed to be engaging, straightforward and great practice for the main subjects at school.

All KS2 children across the country are preparing for the big tests this May, but here’s a reminder about what SATs are and why your children take them.

What SATs are Designed For

The SATs test a child’s ability in English reading, grammar, punctuation and spelling, and maths. They comprise six exam papers: a reading paper; a spelling, grammar and punctuation paper and three maths papers.

Working towards taking SATs in year 6 means that those children who are struggling in basic numeracy and literacy can be more easily identified and helped. These basic skills need to be in place before they start secondary school and testing by SATs is an ideal way to pinpoint problems.

How AE Publications Can Support in Preparing for Exam Season

Our range of English and Maths workbooks and testpacks are ideal for KS2 students in the lead up to their big tests.  Covering a range of topics, difficulties and types of answers and questions, they can help identify areas of struggle or abilities that you can work on with your children from home. Our books offer a steady pace for revision at home- take a few questions at a time or work through a section of the book rather than spending a whole evening working though every topic.

All our books are classroom tested and reviews from parents and tutors confirm that children show more interest in their homework and have a positive attitude when it comes to revising at home with AE Publications’ books.
